It is a rich storyline with twists and revelations we will get into spoiler territory later, recognized on the church conduct of its members trafficking and exploitation souls. Midge in turn does pull her out of what is probably going to be certain death but it just begged for a comment.
On the personal side, The Running Grave dives deeper into the evolving when it isn’t complicated relationship between Strike and Robin. Strike grapples with his feelings for Robin and by the end of the novel, tells her he loves her at potentially the worst possible moment.
